Polity or Governance
CHURCH POLITY or GOVERNANCE
First Baptist Whitewright voted in October, 2011 to transition to an "Elder" church polity, or plurality of pastoral leadership. Our pastor recommended that three men serve with him in a transitional eldership. The church voted unanimously to endorse the recommendation of Randy Bearden, Kenneth Franklin, and Bud Roach to serve as transitional elders. They will carry the duty of corporately governing the week to week decisions of the church, constructing an elder polity structure for church approval, and spiritually leading and serving the congregation. Each elder will serve in direct oversight of areas in which they are gifted and equipped. Their individual responsiblities of oversight are as follows:
Pastor Leon Veazey
Elder of Biblical preaching, teaching, and pastoral care
Randy Bearden
Elder of small groups discipleship
Kenneth Franklin
Elder of Outreach, Welcome, & Followup
Bud Roach
Elder of Administration
